Privacy Policy

This policy describes information handled by Detail-It-Yourself, operated by Detail-It-Yourself, when you read our guides or sign up for updates.

Newsletter signup

We collect the email address you submit, the time it is saved, and a record of the signup wording you accepted. We store these in a dedicated Cloudflare D1 database to maintain the guide-update list. We do not ask for a name, address, or payment information in this form.

Email delivery has not started. Signing up records your interest in occasional guide emails; it does not start an automated email sequence today. Before sending begins, we will provide an unsubscribe method in each email. You can also request removal using the contact below.

The signup form includes validation and an automated-submission trap. Our application does not intentionally write submitted email addresses to its error logs. Cloudflare may process request and connection information to host and secure the service.

Analytics and cookies

We use Google Tag Manager to load Google Analytics and configured advertising measurement tags. These services can process page views, device and browser information, referral details, approximate location, and online identifiers. Analytics should not be understood as anonymous merely because reports show aggregate figures.

Storage defaults depend on the regional rules configured for the site. A consent prompt appears where our configuration requires a choice; outside those regions, analytics and advertising storage may be enabled initially. Use Cookie settings in the footer to accept or decline that storage or revise a saved choice.

Declining updates the consent settings sent to Google. It does not promise that no network requests occur: Google Consent Mode can still send cookieless signals. Browser controls and blocking extensions provide additional options. We also use local browser storage to remember your consent choice and whether you dismissed the signup panel.

Why we use information

We use signup information to maintain the requested guide-update list and respond to removal requests. We use site measurement to understand visits, improve content, and assess traffic campaigns. We do not send email addresses in the signup-success analytics event.

Providers and external links

Cloudflare hosts the site and subscriber database. Google provides tag management and analytics. Affiliate links can send you through Levanta or a retailer such as Amazon, which handles visits and purchases under its own policies. We do not receive your retailer payment details through this website.

Retention and your choices

We keep subscriber records while needed for the guide-update list, unless you ask us to remove them or we discontinue that purpose. Analytics retention depends on the active provider settings; this policy does not claim an unverified fixed duration. Providers may retain separate security or operational records under their policies.

Contact us to ask about your subscriber record, correct your address, or request removal. Available legal rights depend on your location. We may need enough information to verify that a request relates to your own record.

Children and changes

The site is intended for a general adult audience. Please do not submit a child's email address. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can address it.

We will update this page when our practices change, including when an email-delivery provider is introduced.
